Birth and Upbringing

Dylan was born on the 24th of May 1941 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota to parents Abraham and Beatrice Zimmerman of Russian and Jewish descent.

Together with David his younger brother had their upbringing in Hibbing, Minnesota and learned how to play the piano at a young age.

Dylan from his childhood was in love with music and during his time at Hibbing High School formed different musical groups that performed rock music.

After graduating from High school, he opted to further his studies and attended the University of Minnesota and as a student was still performing in bars and cafes but this time not rock but folk and country music.

Rise to Fame

He didn’t graduate from the University as he dropped out to pursue his music career. He moved from Minnesota to New York where he met his idol Woody Guthrie who was suffering from a rare disease.

Dylan had the opportunity to work with other folk and country music singers who he met in New York as the inspired his performances.

Bob Dylan’s net worth started growing when he got signed to Colombia records in 1962 after his performance was reported by the New York Times. Having been signed to a record label, Dylan released his first album in 1962 titled Bob Dylan which consisted of folk songs.

With the release of his second album The Freewheelin Bob Dylan in 1963, he made a name for himself as a songwriter. One of the songs on the album “Blowin’ in the Wind” became a civil rights anthem and also for protests.

Dylan has reinvented himself over time singing both rock, folk, gospel, and music. He had been booed and praised by fans and also had an accident in 1966.

The relationship ended in 1965 and Dylan went on to marry Sara Lownds. The couple gave birth to Jesse Byron Dylan his first son,  Anna Lea, Samuel Isaac Abram, and Jakob Luke.

Dylan divorced Lownds and married Carolyn Dennis in 1986. They had a daughter name Desiree Gabrielle Dennis-Dylan. They got divorced in 1992.
